Arsenal can stop Harry Kane from breaking Champions League record set by Cristiano Ronaldo

Arsenal face the threat of Harry Kane extending his remarkable Champions League scoring run when they take on Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, with the England captain closing in on a historic record held by Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to a report by Football London on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Kane could move closer to matching Ronaldo’s record for consecutive Champions League appearances with a goal if he finds the net against Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Bayern Munich striker has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards, and another goal against Arsenal would extend his scoring streak in the competition to nine consecutive games, putting him closer to Ronaldo’s benchmark of 11 matches in a row.

Kane’s impressive performances for Bayern have strengthened his reputation as one of the leading strikers in world football. His form has also attracted considerable attention ahead of the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London.

Arsenal will have good reason to be concerned about the threat he poses. Kane has scored 15 goals in 22 career appearances against the Gunners, making Wednesday’s encounter another significant test for Arteta’s defence.

The 2025–26 campaign was particularly productive for the English forward, who reportedly scored 73 goals for club and country. Only Lionel Messi’s extraordinary 2011–12 season surpassed that tally among players this century, according to the report.

Kane has also continued to rewrite the record books in European football. After turning 30, he surpassed Messi’s previous record for the most Champions League goals scored after reaching that age, taking his tally to 36.

Furthermore, the Bayern forward has scored 57 goals in the Champions League overall, placing him level with former Bayern teammate Thomas Müller in eighth position on the competition’s all-time scoring list.

Kane’s achievements during the previous campaign also included 14 Champions League goals, the highest tally recorded by an English player in a single edition of the competition.

Beyond his goalscoring ability, the striker has earned praise from his Bayern teammates for the influence he brings to the squad. Serge Gnabry has highlighted Kane’s leadership, work ethic and willingness to put the team’s needs ahead of personal achievements.

Gnabry explained that Kane contributes far more than goals, pointing to his attitude and ability to unite the players around him. He also praised the striker’s unselfishness and the positive influence his performances have on the team.

Bayern assistant coach Aaron Danks has similarly emphasised Kane’s all-round qualities, highlighting his ability to contribute in different phases of the game.

According to Danks, Kane’s overall play is exceptional, allowing him to create opportunities for teammates while continuing to deliver goals himself. His contribution extends beyond the penalty area, making him a difficult opponent for defenders to contain.

For Arsenal, limiting Kane’s influence will be a major priority as they prepare for the high-profile European encounter. The Gunners must remain organised defensively and prevent Bayern from supplying their leading striker with the opportunities he needs.

With Kane chasing another Champions League milestone and Bayern possessing considerable attacking quality, Arsenal will need a disciplined performance to keep the England international quiet and protect their chances of securing a positive result.
