Barcelona are reportedly interested in Aston Villa midfielder Johan Manzambi as they plan for next summer's transfer window, but Bayern Munich are also monitoring the Switzerland international.
According to a report by Barca Universal on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Barcelona sporting director Deco is looking at possible midfield signings, with the 21-year-old attracting attention through his performances this season.
Manzambi has reportedly scored three goals and provided three assists in six appearances, showing his ability to contribute in attack. His form has also drawn interest from several top European clubs.
As reported by MARCA, English journalist Graeme Bailey said scouts from major European teams have been impressed by the midfielder's progress. Some reportedly believe he has the potential to reach the highest level of the game.
However, Barcelona may have to compete with Bayern Munich for his signature. The German club have reportedly been following Manzambi since his time at Freiburg and remain interested in his development.
Aston Villa's reported €60 million investment in the player could make any potential transfer difficult. The Premier League club may be unwilling to sell him so soon after committing a significant amount to bring him in.
Manzambi's market value is estimated at around €65 million, although Aston Villa could demand a different fee if interest in the midfielder increases.
Barcelona's financial position could also affect their chances of completing a deal. The club would need to consider its available funds, and a major signing could depend on player sales or other ways of raising money.
A move in January is considered unlikely, as Manzambi is reportedly happy at Aston Villa and wants to continue developing under manager Unai Emery. Staying until the end of the season would give him more time to gain experience before making a decision about his future.
Next summer could therefore provide Barcelona with a better opportunity to pursue the midfielder. Deco and the recruitment team will have to consider the cost of the deal alongside the club's other transfer priorities, while also keeping an eye on Bayern Munich's interest.
For now, Manzambi's future remains uncertain as both clubs reportedly assess the possibility of signing him in the next summer transfer window.
