According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday October 27, 2026, former Flying Eagles star Simon Zenke has expressed surprise that Arsenal and Manchester United failed to sign Victor Osimhen before the Nigerian striker joined Galatasaray.
Osimhen attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, before eventually completing his move to the Turkish giants after leaving Napoli.
Speaking to Türkiye Gazetesi via Habersarikirmizi, Zenke described the transfer as a major opportunity for Galatasaray, considering Osimhen’s market value at the time.
“I think it was a real opportunity transfer for Galatasaray because his value was over 100 million Euros,” Zenke said.
The former Nigeria youth international was particularly surprised that Arsenal and Manchester United did not make a stronger move for the striker, given their need for attacking reinforcements.
“I was really surprised that none of the big European clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United, who needed a striker at the time, were after him. I think they regret it now after seeing his performance in Türkiye,” he added.
Osimhen has continued to demonstrate his quality since joining Galatasaray, scoring 68 goals and providing 19 assists in 83 appearances across all competitions, according to the report.
His impressive contribution has made him a key player for the Istanbul club and strengthened the argument that he could have been a valuable addition to either Premier League side.
Zenke believes Arsenal and Manchester United may now look back on their failure to secure the Nigerian international as a missed opportunity, with Osimhen continuing to deliver goals and assists in Turkey.
