Barcelona Receive Major Raphinha Boost Ahead of PSG and Real Madrid Clashes

According to a report by Barca Universal on Sunday October 18, 2026, Barcelona have received a major boost ahead of their crucial fixtures against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, with captain Raphinha returning to action after a spell on the sidelines.

The Brazilian winger featured for the final 20 minutes of Barcelona’s 5-2 victory over Real Betis on Saturday, marking his return after missing the matches against Getafe and Galatasaray.

According to reports, Raphinha’s recent absence was largely precautionary, as Barcelona carefully managed his muscular discomfort to ensure he would be available for the club’s demanding schedule.

The 29-year-old experienced the problem while representing Brazil against Australia, leaving the match at half-time before withdrawing from international duty. Although no official injury was diagnosed, Barcelona opted not to take unnecessary risks, particularly given his previous physical problems.

His return comes at an important moment for Hansi Flick’s side, who are preparing to face PSG in the Champions League before taking on Real Madrid in El Clásico on October 25.

Raphinha has fond memories of facing the French champions, having scored three goals across Barcelona’s 2023-24 Champions League quarter-final tie against PSG. He netted twice in the first leg, helping the Catalan club secure a 3-2 victory in Paris.

His pressing, movement and goalscoring ability could prove valuable once again, but Flick must carefully consider how quickly to increase his workload.

Despite returning against Betis, Raphinha is not guaranteed to start against PSG, as being available does not necessarily mean he is ready to play the full 90 minutes. Flick may decide to gradually increase his minutes rather than immediately expose him to the demands of a high-intensity European fixture.

Barcelona will be keen to have their captain involved in both upcoming matches, but protecting his fitness will also be a priority. Rushing him back too quickly could risk aggravating the problem and leaving the team without one of its key attacking players for a longer period.
