According to a report by London Evening Standard on Saturday October 17, 2026, Manchester City have confirmed their starting lineup for this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium as Erling Haaland retains his place in attack despite concerns about his heavy workload.
Phil Foden also returns to the starting eleven after completing his three-match suspension.
Enzo Maresca has made several changes to his team following Wednesday’s 4-2 Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. The City manager is looking to freshen up his side as they return to domestic action.
Haaland remains the focal point of the attack after scoring his tenth goal of the season against PSG. The Norwegian striker also reached 60 Champions League goals during the match, becoming the youngest and fastest player to achieve the milestone.
Despite his impressive form, Maresca had suggested that the 25-year-old might need a period of rest after featuring regularly for both Manchester City and Norway. However, the forward will lead the line against Ipswich, with the possibility of being rested in Tuesday’s Champions League fixture against AEK Athens.
Foden is one of the major changes in the attacking setup. The England international replaces Rayan Cherki, who was withdrawn at half-time against PSG, and will operate in an advanced role behind Haaland.
Iliman Ndiaye has also earned a starting place after making an impression as a substitute in midweek. The winger replaces Antoine Semenyo and will provide additional attacking threat alongside Jeremy Doku.
In midfield, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Mateo Kovacic have been selected to provide balance and control. Matheus Nunes and Rico O’Reilly occupy the full-back positions, while Ruben Dias and Marc Guehi continue their partnership in central defence.
Gianluigi Donnarumma retains his place in goal as Manchester City prepare to respond to their European disappointment. Maresca has no fresh injury concerns and can call upon several experienced players from the bench.
Donnarumma; Nunes, Dias, Guehi, O’Reilly; Bouaddi, Kovacic; Doku, Foden, Ndiaye; Haaland.
Substitutes: Rulli, Anderson, Cherki, Fernandez, Ait-Nouri, Gvardiol, Allan, Semenyo, Khusanov.
