According to a report by Football London on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Kavuma-McQueen has emerged as one of the Championship's most dangerous dribblers since joining Portsmouth on loan during the summer transfer window. The Cobham academy graduate has settled quickly into life on the south coast and is becoming an increasingly important member of Mousinho's squad.
His performances have demonstrated his ability to take on defenders, create attacking opportunities and provide a different dimension to Portsmouth's forward play. His pace, confidence and willingness to challenge opponents have made him a promising option in the wide areas.
The teenager delivered one of his most encouraging performances during Portsmouth's victory over Sheffield United, completing his first full 90 minutes for the club. He played a key role in Adrian Segečić's goal, beating Tahith Chong on the left wing before sending a dangerous cross into the six-yard box.
His display was particularly impressive considering his difficult experience in the South Coast derby against Southampton, where he was substituted at half-time. Rather than allowing that setback to affect him, the young winger responded positively and earned recognition from his manager.
Speaking after the Sheffield United match, Mousinho expressed his satisfaction with the teenager's performance, saying, "I don’t want to get carried away... I thought he was awesome tonight."
The Portsmouth manager added, "I thought he was a joy to watch. He worked his socks off, which I thought was a big step forward for him."
Although Mousinho believes the youngster must continue improving his understanding of pressing duties and tracking opponents, he remains encouraged by the attacking qualities the winger brings to the team.
Kavuma-McQueen's statistics further demonstrate his growing influence. He has registered 24 successful dribbles across 10 Championship appearances, including seven starts, giving him the highest total in the division at the time of the report. His average of 2.4 successful dribbles per 90 minutes also places him at the top of the league standings.
The Chelsea prospect has previously spoken about the players who influenced his development, particularly former Blues forward Eden Hazard.
"I’ve watched a lot of games there and seen some great players represent this club," Kavuma-McQueen said.
"Obviously, as a young winger, one that I always loved was Eden Hazard."
He also identified Cristiano Ronaldo as another footballing figure he admired while growing up, highlighting the influence of elite players on his ambitions.
Kavuma-McQueen's progress at Portsmouth could prove valuable for his future at Chelsea, as regular Championship football provides him with an opportunity to develop his technical ability, physical strength and tactical understanding.
