UWCL Table After Chelsea Won 2-0

According to a report by BBC Sport on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Chelsea Women strengthened their position in the UEFA Women's Champions League standings after recording an impressive 2-0 victory against AS Roma Women in an important European encounter.

The London club entered the fixture determined to secure maximum points and improve their chances of progressing further in the competition. However, Roma proved difficult to overcome during the opening 45 minutes, preventing Chelsea from finding the back of the net before halftime.

Despite enjoying promising spells of possession, Chelsea struggled to turn their attacking opportunities into goals as the Italian visitors remained organised defensively.

The situation changed shortly after the restart when Chelsea increased their attacking intensity and began creating more dangerous opportunities.

In the 51st minute, Ellie Carpenter finally broke the deadlock after connecting with a pass from Wieke Kaptein. Her finish handed Chelsea a deserved advantage and forced Roma to reconsider their approach.

Following the opening goal, Roma attempted to respond by introducing fresh players and pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Nevertheless, Chelsea maintained their defensive discipline and limited the visitors' opportunities.

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor also adjusted her team during the second half, introducing Keira Walsh and Melvine Malard in the 56th minute to provide additional energy and maintain control of proceedings.

As the encounter approached its conclusion, Chelsea continued searching for another goal to secure the three points.

Their persistence was rewarded in the 89th minute when Kadeisha Buchanan scored with a header following another excellent delivery from Kaptein.

The midfielder completed an impressive individual performance by registering two assists, playing a decisive role in both Chelsea goals.

Buchanan's late strike effectively ended Roma's hopes of staging a comeback and ensured the English side finished the encounter with a clean sheet.

The victory represents another positive development for Chelsea as they continue their pursuit of European success under Bompastor.

Following the result, Chelsea Women climbed to second place in the UEFA Women's Champions League standings with seven points, strengthening their position among the leading teams in the competition.

Meanwhile, AS Roma Women remained in a difficult situation, occupying 16th position with just one point.

The Italian side will now need significant improvements in their remaining European fixtures to strengthen their chances of advancing.

For Chelsea, the result provides valuable momentum ahead of their upcoming matches, with the team hoping to maintain its impressive form and continue challenging for a place in the knockout stages.
