According to a report by Manchester Evening News on Saturday October 24, 2026, Andrey Santos has identified five Manchester United players he believes can play important roles in helping the club recover from its disappointing start to the season. The Brazilian midfielder stressed that teamwork, determination and consistent hard work will be essential if the Red Devils are to improve their performances.

Manchester United have struggled to achieve the desired results under Michael Carrick, managing just two victories in their first 11 matches across all competitions, according to the report. Their difficult run continued on Wednesday night when they suffered a disappointing 4-1 defeat against Como in the Champions League.

The loss has raised further concerns about the team's performances, increasing the pressure on Carrick to find solutions before their next Premier League encounter against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Despite the club's recent difficulties, Santos remains confident that Manchester United have talented players capable of turning things around. The midfielder mentioned Carlos, Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Youri as five individuals who could help the team regain its confidence and improve its results.

Speaking during an appearance on Premier League Productions' Preview Show, Santos explained that everyone associated with Manchester United must contribute towards improving the situation rather than expecting a single player to solve the team's problems.

The Brazilian emphasised the importance of maintaining a strong connection between the players, coaching staff and supporters. He believes that a collective effort will give the club a better chance of overcoming its current challenges.

Santos also highlighted the need for the squad to maintain its belief and approach every training session with the right attitude. According to him, the players must remain committed to working hard daily if they want to change the direction of their season.

Bruno Fernandes remains one of Manchester United's most influential players, with his creativity, passing ability and leadership offering important qualities in the team's attack. Meanwhile, Mainoo's injury has created difficulties for Carrick when selecting his midfield, making the availability of alternative options increasingly important.

Mount will also be eager to establish greater consistency and make a stronger contribution after experiencing injury problems since joining Manchester United from Chelsea.

For Santos, the situation presents an opportunity to demonstrate his own importance to the squad. The midfielder has been working to secure a regular place in the team, and Mainoo's absence has created additional opportunities for him to feature.

His appearance during the defeat to Como provided another chance to gain valuable experience, although the team's overall performance left plenty of room for improvement.

As Manchester United prepare to face Bournemouth, Santos' message highlights the importance of unity and accountability. The players must respond positively, improve their performances and work together if they hope to restore confidence and deliver better results in the coming weeks.
