According to a report by Barca Universal on Saturday October 31, 2026, Barcelona youngster Ebrima Tunkara could make history when the Catalan giants face Deportivo Alaves in La Liga, with manager Hansi Flick considering handing the 16-year-old his first-team debut.

Tunkara has been included in Barcelona’s squad for the encounter after impressing during training with the senior team. The youngster spent much of pre-season working with Flick’s side and has now received another opportunity following Dani Olmo’s absence.

The teenager could become Barcelona’s second-youngest player to feature in La Liga if he makes an appearance against Alaves.

According to reports, Tunkara would be 16 years and 235 days old at the time of his potential debut. Only Lamine Yamal, who made his first-team debut at 15 years and 290 days in 2023, would remain ahead of him.

Tunkara would move above Vicenç Martínez, who made his Barcelona debut at 16 years and 280 days in 1941.

Flick has already spoken positively about the youngster and refused to rule out giving him an opportunity in the upcoming fixture.

"He did pre-season with us and I liked what I saw from him. He’s here and he’s doing well in training. Anything can happen," the German manager said.

Tunkara missed the beginning of the season because of an ankle ligament injury but has recently returned to competitive action with Barça Atlètic.

His return comes at a time when Barcelona are dealing with several injury problems. Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Xavi Espart, Dani Olmo and Andreas Christensen are all unavailable for the Alaves encounter, creating opportunities for younger players.

The 16-year-old is primarily an attacking midfielder who operates as a No. 10, although his ability to play on the wing gives Flick additional options in the attacking department.

He is not the only academy youngster included in the squad, as Guillem Victor has also received a call-up.

Barcelona have continued to rely on their academy during periods of injury problems, with several young players recently given opportunities to establish themselves in the senior team.

Tunkara will now hope to follow in Yamal’s footsteps by making an early breakthrough at the highest level. However, whether Flick gives him his debut against Alaves remains to be seen.
