According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Barcelona are reportedly considering the possibility of selling Jules Kounde, with Chelsea already making initial enquiries about the conditions required to secure the defender's signature.
Journalist Matteo Moretto reports that the Spanish giants no longer regard the French international as an untouchable member of their squad. Barcelona are believed to be open to his departure if a suitable offer arrives, particularly because selling the 27-year-old could generate a substantial transfer fee for the club.
Chelsea have reportedly started exploring the possibility of bringing Kounde to Stamford Bridge. However, their interest has not yet developed into formal negotiations, as the London club are still assessing the financial requirements of a potential transfer.
Kounde's current situation at Barcelona has become increasingly complicated following a difficult campaign. The defender has struggled to maintain his position in Hansi Flick's starting lineup, making only four starts in the club's 13 matches so far. He has accumulated just 458 minutes of action, reflecting his reduced importance within the team.
His position has also been affected by the impressive performances of Eric Garcia, who has moved ahead of him in the competition for the right-back position. This development has further limited Kounde's opportunities to establish himself as a regular starter.
Furthermore, an ankle injury has disrupted his campaign, forcing him to miss important fixtures against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. He is also expected to be unavailable for Barcelona's upcoming encounter with Alaves on Saturday.
Despite these difficulties, Kounde has not expressed any desire to leave the Catalan club. The French defender has previously acknowledged that his performances have fallen below expectations, but he remains determined to improve and fight for his place.
Nevertheless, Barcelona could change their position if Chelsea submit an attractive financial proposal. Kounde's contract runs until 2030, giving the Spanish club considerable negotiating power and putting them in a strong position to demand a significant fee.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has reportedly emerged as a potential replacement should Barcelona eventually decide to sell the Frenchman.
For now, Chelsea's interest remains at the enquiry stage, but Barcelona's willingness to consider offers has placed Kounde's future under fresh uncertainty.
