According to a report by The Chelsea Chronicle on Monday, November 2, 2026, Chelsea are reportedly planning to offer Brazilian youngster Estevao Willian an improved contract package following his impressive display in the 2-0 Premier League victory over Manchester United.
Spanish newspaper AS reports that the 19-year-old could receive a substantial salary increase in recognition of his progress and contributions to the team. The report also indicates that Chelsea are no longer considering allowing him to leave during the January transfer window.
Estevao was handed his first Premier League start of the season at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and delivered an encouraging performance against Manchester United. Despite failing to register a goal, the Brazilian forward repeatedly troubled the opposition defence with his pace, movement and attacking ability.
He managed to find the back of the net twice, but both efforts were disallowed for offside. His second attempt was particularly impressive, as he produced a powerful finish into the top corner. However, following a VAR assessment, the goal was ruled out because he had strayed just seven centimetres beyond the defensive line.
His impressive showing was especially significant considering the limited playing opportunities he had received since Xabi Alonso took charge at Chelsea. His position in the manager's tactical plans had previously attracted attention, with concerns emerging over whether he would receive enough opportunities to establish himself in the starting lineup.
There were also reports suggesting that the former Palmeiras attacker could reconsider his future ahead of the January transfer window if his situation remained unchanged. However, the latest development suggests that Chelsea are determined to retain him and continue investing in his development.
Alonso also demonstrated his appreciation for the youngster during Saturday's encounter. When Estevao was substituted in the 87th minute, the Spanish manager embraced him in front of the Stamford Bridge supporters, offering a public show of encouragement.
The gesture was particularly noteworthy following earlier suggestions that the teenager was frustrated by his lack of regular minutes under the new manager.
Chelsea must now decide whether to give Estevao another starting opportunity in their upcoming Premier League fixture against Sunderland. His performance against Manchester United has strengthened his argument for greater involvement.
The reported plans to improve his financial terms further indicate that Chelsea view the Brazilian as an important part of their long-term ambitions.
