Ross Stewart Scores First Swansea Goal in 4-0 Rout of Blackburn

According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Swansea City returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion after recording a convincing 4-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers at the Swansea.com Stadium in the Championship.

Vitor Matos' side produced an impressive performance to put last weekend's disappointing 5-0 defeat against Queens Park Rangers behind them, scoring three times in the first half before adding another goal after the break.

Swansea opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Stephen Eustaquio, who tapped the ball into an empty net after Joseph Opoku beat Harry Pickering on the outside and delivered a low cross across the face of goal.

The hosts continued to dominate and doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute. Tom Atcheson intercepted Stephen Welsh's through ball but his attempted clearance fell perfectly for Opoku, who controlled the ball before calmly guiding his shot beyond goalkeeper Balazs Toth into the bottom corner.

Swansea made it 3-0 just four minutes later as Filip Lissah found the net with his first senior goal for the club. Welsh produced an excellent diagonal pass to send the academy graduate behind Blackburn's defence, and Lissah's low effort proved too powerful for Toth despite the goalkeeper getting a touch.

Blackburn struggled to respond, although Todd Cantwell had an opportunity to change the course of the contest when he fired over with Swansea leading 1-0. The visitors needed a significant improvement after the interval, but Swansea maintained control and extended their advantage in the 59th minute.

Ross Stewart, making his first start since joining the club from Southampton in the summer, produced an excellent finish to register his first goal for the Swans. Eom Ji-Sung played a clever free-kick into his path, allowing the Scotland striker to run into the penalty area before unleashing a powerful left-footed strike inside Toth's near post.

The fourth goal effectively ended any possibility of a Blackburn comeback, with Swansea continuing to manage the game comfortably. Substitute Augustus Kargbo came close to finding a consolation goal late on but his effort went narrowly wide as the hosts secured their sixth clean sheet of the season.

The victory moved Swansea into second place in the Championship table, while Blackburn dropped to 13th after suffering their heaviest defeat since April 2024.
