Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has written his name into Champions League history after surpassing Kylian Mbappe's teenage scoring record with a goal in his team's 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday.
According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the 19-year-old found the back of the net in the seventh minute at Spotify Camp Nou, taking advantage of a defensive mistake by Aston Villa before sending a curling effort beyond goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
The goal took Yamal's Champions League tally to 14, putting him one ahead of Mbappe's previous record of 13 goals scored as a teenager. The French forward has gone on to score 72 goals in the competition throughout his career.
Yamal achieved the milestone after just 37 appearances in the tournament, adding another remarkable accomplishment to his rapidly growing European football career.
The Barcelona youngster also holds the record as the youngest player to start a match in the main Champions League competition. He was just 16 years and 83 days old when he made his first full appearance in the tournament against FC Porto.
His record-breaking strike was one of the highlights of Barcelona's impressive performance, as the Spanish giants dominated the encounter and secured a convincing 3-0 win.
For Yamal, the achievement further reflects how quickly he has developed into one of Barcelona's most important players.
His creativity, ability to beat defenders and quality in decisive moments have made him an influential figure for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team.
His performances have also attracted recognition beyond the Champions League. Last week, Yamal finished third in the 2026 Ballon d'Or voting, behind Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe.
The teenager has also enjoyed an impressive beginning to the new season. He has made 15 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists.
With his Champions League goal tally continuing to increase, Yamal now has another opportunity to build on his latest achievement and create even more history in Europe's biggest club competition.
