Osimhen Names World’s Best Team as Arsenal and Man City Miss Out

According to a report by Metro on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has identified Barcelona as the best football team in the world currently, placing the Spanish giants ahead of Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Galatasaray striker shared his opinion before his side's UEFA Champions League meeting with Barcelona at Rams Park, acknowledging the quality of their opponents ahead of the highly anticipated encounter.

Barcelona have started the 2026/27 campaign in impressive fashion, winning their first eight La Liga matches and finding the net 34 times. Their excellent performances have helped them build a five-point lead at the summit of the Spanish league.

Hansi Flick's side have also demonstrated their strength in European competition, opening their Champions League campaign with a commanding 5-1 victory over Feyenoord.

Osimhen highlighted Barcelona's remarkable history and current form, explaining that their consistent performances and outstanding quality have earned them recognition as the world's leading team in his view.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper Sport, the Nigerian international praised the Catalan club, describing them as one of the greatest sides in football history and the best team in the world at present.

The Galatasaray forward also acknowledged the difficulty of competing against a squad containing several technically gifted footballers. He explained that his teammates would need to remain disciplined, show determination and apply pressure effectively if they hoped to achieve a positive result.

According to Osimhen, facing opponents with Barcelona's level of quality demands concentration, commitment and the right approach, particularly when attempting to press them high up the pitch.

Despite the challenge, the Super Eagles striker expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming fixture, insisting that Galatasaray would approach the contest with confidence rather than fear.

He admitted that Barcelona would provide a difficult test but stressed that he and his teammates were eager to compete against the Spanish side.

Osimhen added that Galatasaray were ready to give their best throughout the match and would leave the pitch with pride regardless of the final outcome. He also described hosting Barcelona at Rams Park as a special and spectacular occasion.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have reportedly continued strengthening their squad following the summer transfer window, with midfielder Rodri and England winger Anthony Gordon among the players linked with moves to the club. Their reported additions would provide further depth to an already talented team.

Arsenal have also attracted considerable attention because of their performances under manager Mikel Arteta. The Gunners enjoyed a successful previous campaign, winning the Premier League title and reaching the Champions League final.

Former Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has also praised Arsenal, reportedly describing the north London club as the best team in the world after Napoli lost to them earlier in the season.

Nevertheless, Osimhen's assessment places Barcelona above both Arsenal and Manchester City, despite the achievements and recognition enjoyed by the two English clubs.

His comments come ahead of Galatasaray's demanding Champions League showdown against Barcelona. The Turkish champions will be hoping to make the most of their home advantage and deliver a strong performance in front of their supporters.
