According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday November 5, 2026, seven Barcelona academy players have been named in Spain's squad for the upcoming FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar, highlighting the continued influence of the club's famous La Masia academy.
Spain U17 manager David Cubillo has included Raul Exposito, Sergi Mayans, Baba Kourouma, Jordi Pesquer, Ebrima Tunkara, Roberto Tomas and Iu Martinez in his squad for the tournament.
The seven youngsters will represent Barcelona's youth setup as Spain prepare to compete against some of the best young national teams in the world.
Of the seven players selected, four are defenders. Raul Exposito, Sergi Mayans, Baba Kourouma and Jordi Pesquer will provide the defensive representation from La Masia.
Pesquer is particularly notable because he has already had some experience around Barcelona's first team, having participated in the club's pre-season activities during the summer.
Meanwhile, Ebrima Tunkara and Roberto Tomas have been selected as midfielders.
Tunkara has also attracted attention within the club after regularly receiving opportunities to train with Barcelona's senior team, making his inclusion another important step in his development.
Iu Martinez completes the list as the only forward from Barcelona's academy selected for the competition.
According to the announcement from the Spanish Football Federation, the seven Barcelona youngsters will report to the national team's training camp in Madrid on November 9 before travelling to Qatar for the tournament.
Their involvement will mean Barcelona will be without the seven players for an important period, with their respective youth and reserve teams expected to miss their services during the competition.
Spain have been drawn in Group H alongside Morocco, Fiji and China.
The Spanish youngsters will be hoping to make a strong impression and help their country win the U17 World Cup for the first time in its history.
Despite Spain's success in several other international competitions, the country has never lifted the U17 World Cup trophy.
For Barcelona, having seven academy players included in the squad represents another positive sign for La Masia and its continued production of young talents.
