According to a report by the London Evening Standard on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Arsenal have been handed an injury concern involving their future signing Andria Bartishvili, after the teenager suffered ankle ligament damage.
The 17-year-old Georgian forward is expected to be unavailable for between two and three months, disrupting his preparations ahead of his planned move to the Emirates Stadium next summer.
His current club, Iberia 1999, confirmed the injury after he picked up the problem in Georgia. The development was initially reported by Geo Team before journalist Simon Collings also brought attention to the situation. Bartishvili is currently representing Iberia 1999 on loan from Kolkheti 1913, where he has been gaining valuable experience in senior football.
Arsenal reached a pre-contract agreement with the youngster earlier this year, with the transfer expected to take effect in July 2027. He will be eligible to complete the move once he turns 18.
Bartishvili is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or winger and has attracted attention through his contributions in front of goal. He has also represented Georgia at various youth levels, including the under-21 national team, as he continues to develop his potential.
The latest injury could keep him out for the rest of the calendar year, preventing him from building on his recent performances before the winter break. However, his actual return date will depend on how well he responds to treatment and rehabilitation.
Arsenal are expected to take a gradual approach to his development once he arrives in England. The teenager could initially feature for the academy and under-21 sides while adapting to the demands of English football.
For now, the injury is not believed to have affected the agreement between Arsenal and the player or altered the expected date of his transfer.
Since Bartishvili will remain with his Georgian clubs until 2027, his recovery will be managed in his home country. Arsenal are expected to keep track of his rehabilitation and fitness before he eventually joins them in north London, where he will begin the next chapter of his career.
