Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has praised Harry Kane after losing out to the Bayern Munich star in the 2026 Ballon d’ Or.
According to a report by The Daily Post on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the Frenchman secured the runner up spot in the Ballon d’ Or, the best result of his career so far, with Barcelona and Spain starlet Lamine Yamal coming in third place.
“The Englishman deserves it, he is an incredible player. You come to watch incredible players and he is an incredible player,” Mbappe said in an interview with Athlon Sports.
Mbappe enjoyed an incredible season individually, scoring 25 goals to finish as La Liga’s top scorer. He also topped the Champions League scoring charts with 15 goals.
The Real Madrid forward netted 10 goals in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, bringing his tally to 22 and becoming the all-time top scorer in the tournament.
But despite his incredible stats, Mbappe was left empty handed after Real Madrid failed to win any major trophies during the campaign and France also failed to win the World Cup.
Prior to the ceremony, the Frenchman said he didn’t have an acceptance speech ready, as he thinks it brings a curse if you prepare one.
However, he was one of the first players to congratulate Kane after he was announced as the winner.
The Frenchman attended the awards after helping Real Madrid to a 2-1 victory against Barcelona in El Clasico at Camp Nou. He scored twice in the game.
Despite not winning the individual award, the Frenchman showed his respect towards Kane after his success.
