According to a report by Flashscore on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Venezia secured a 1-0 victory over Napoli at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo in Serie A, with Super Eagles forward Akor Adams being named Player of the Match following his decisive second-half goal.
Venezia entered the encounter seeking their first league victory of the season, while Napoli aimed to extend their unbeaten run and strengthen their position in the race for a place in the top four.
Both teams started cautiously, with Adams providing an early attacking threat for the hosts. The Nigerian forward tested Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret with a right-footed effort inside the opening 15 minutes, but the Italian shot-stopper made the save.
John Yeboah also threatened for Venezia, sending an effort from outside the penalty area narrowly wide as the hosts looked to take the initiative.
Napoli gradually established control of possession, with Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay directing play from midfield. The visitors enjoyed approximately 70 per cent possession and registered eight attempts during the first half, but their efforts were either off target or blocked by Venezia's defence.
Despite Napoli's dominance in possession, neither side managed to register a shot on target before half-time, leaving the contest goalless at the interval.
Napoli came close to opening the scoring immediately after the restart when McTominay delivered a dangerous low cross into the penalty area. However, Lorenzo Lucca failed to connect with the ball despite the promising opportunity.
Venezia capitalised on the missed chance a minute later when a long ball over Napoli's defensive line found Adams. The Super Eagles striker used his strength to hold off Amir Rrahmani before firing past Meret to give the hosts the lead.
Napoli responded with three substitutions as they searched for an equaliser, but Venezia remained dangerous on the counter-attack. Yeboah had an opportunity to double the advantage, although his effort sailed over the crossbar.
The visitors were handed another opportunity when substitute Rasmus Hojlund won a penalty. However, Kevin De Bruyne failed to convert the spot-kick, with Venezia goalkeeper Filip Stankovic saving his effort.
Stankovic produced further important saves during the closing stages as Venezia defended their advantage against Napoli's sustained pressure.
Venezia held on to secure their first Serie A victory of the season, ending an 84-year wait for a league win over Napoli. The result also ended Napoli's three-match unbeaten run.
Super Eagles forward Akor Adams was named Player of the Match following his decisive contribution, having scored the only goal to secure Venezia's important victory over Napoli.
