Manchester United and Everton have reportedly opened discussions regarding a January deal for forward Marcus Rashford, according to FootballTransfers.
The two clubs have made initial contact over a possible winter transfer, though sources indicate the talks remain at an early stage with no guarantee of success.
United made Rashford available for sale during the summer window following an impressive 2025/26 loan spell at Barcelona.
The England international contributed 14 goals and as many assists as the Catalan giants retained their La Liga crown, including a stunning free-kick against Real Madrid on the day Hansi Flick’s side clinched the title.
However, Barcelona opted against making the move permanent and proposed another loan arrangement, which United rejected outright.
Despite attracting some interest, no transfer materialised, and Rashford returned to Old Trafford before being reintegrated into Michael Carrick’s squad.
His early performances showed promise, but his form has since declined amid the team’s broader struggles.
The 28-year-old has failed to register a single goal contribution this season and has missed recent matches due to a hip injury.
United would reportedly welcome the opportunity to remove Rashford from their wage bill.
However, it remains unclear whether Everton are pursuing a loan deal or a permanent purchase, and the player’s stance on a potential switch to Goodison Park is currently unknown.
Financial factors could prove decisive in any negotiation. Beyond United’s valuation, Rashford’s wage demands and his willingness to accept a potential pay cut will likely determine whether a January move materialises.
