SEDIBENG.- Young Pirates FC have returned to winning ways following back-to-back victories against Tembisa Destroyers FC and Doornkop Students in the ABC Motsepe League Stream B fixtures.

The Vaal-based side started the season with a 1-0 defeat to Jomo Cosmos but bounced back strongly by winning their second and third matches.

Issac Mphasane’s squad sent a strong statement on October 17 when they beat Doornkop Students 2-1 at the Sicelo Stadium.

The victory lifted Pirates FC to third place in the league table with six points from three games. The top three teams are currently level on six points after playing the same number of matches, separated only by goal difference.

This is a familiar position for the club, who found itself in the title race last season before a late slump saw them slip to tenth place. Management hopes the appointment of Mphasane, an experienced coach who has previously managed top sides like Swallows FC, shows their serious intent to win the league this term.

Young Pirates FC will now hit the road to face TUT on Friday with kick-off scheduled for 18:00.

It promises to be an exciting encounter as TUT are also desperate for maximum points to improve their position.

TUT sat in sixth place with three points at the time of going to print, though their scheduled match against Jomo Cosmos this past weekend is still awaiting a final score update.
