South African coach Simo Dladla is expected to take charge of Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC on an interim basis following the sacking of Manqoba Mngqithi on Sunday night.

Yanga terminated the contract of the former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor with immediate effect after a brief meeting with the club executive.

Mngqithi leaves the club after barely three months in charge, having assumed the coaching role in July 2026 under high expectations of delivering major trophies.

However, the club announced the experienced coach’s departure after Yanga played out to a goalless draw against TRA United in the Tanzanian Premier League on Sunday.

Dladla will step up to lead the side when Yanga host Mashujaa in a league encounter on Tuesday afternoon at the KMC Complex in Mwenge. Kick-off is scheduled for 17:00 South African time.

WHAT SIMO DLADLA SAID AHEAD OF MASHUJAA TIE

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s clash, Dladla emphasised the importance of high intensity and clinical execution in front of goal.

“We’re playing at home, so we have to be aggressive and decisive quickly and accurately in front of the gate. We must utilize our opportunities effectively and ensure we get the results we desire. We are experts in the game and we understand the challenges we face. I believe we are ready,” said Dladla.

“The game is in the hands of the players. They know what to do. Changes in the system and strategy will depend on the players available. Like I said, we’ll be fierce and play an interesting game. We know our challenges and we work on them. The main aim of Yanga is to make sure we are number one.”

TANZANIAN PREMIER LEAGUE STANDINGS

Yanga currently occupy second place on the Tanzanian Premier League table with 19 points collected from eight matches. They trail log leaders Simba SC, led by Steve Barker, by five points.
