Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz believes young striker Wandile Duba has the potential to earn a place in the Bafana Bafana national team following his outstanding performance against TS Galaxy.

Duba attracted attention after scoring a sensational hat-trick, delivering a memorable display that highlighted his attacking ability and gave Amakhosi supporters another reason to be excited about his development.

The young forward’s performance has strengthened hopes that he could become an important figure for Kaizer Chiefs, with Da Cruz now suggesting that consistent hard work and a willingness to learn could open the door to international recognition.

Speaking about Duba, the Chiefs coach expressed his happiness with the striker’s progress but stressed that he must remain disciplined and continue improving rather than becoming satisfied with one impressive performance.

“I'm very happy for Duba. He must continue to work hard and listen to the coach. If he can continue like this and listen more to the coach, he can become a Bafana Bafana player,” Da Cruz said.

The coach’s comments reflect his belief in the young striker’s potential while making it clear that talent alone will not guarantee a place in South Africa’s senior national team.

For Duba, the challenge will be to build on his hat-trick by delivering consistent performances in upcoming matches. Maintaining his form, improving his decision-making and responding positively to coaching instructions will be important as he seeks to establish himself in the Chiefs starting line-up.

Kaizer Chiefs have been looking for attacking players capable of making a decisive impact, and Duba’s latest display could strengthen his case for more opportunities.

A potential Bafana Bafana call-up would represent a major milestone in the youngster’s career. However, Da Cruz’s remarks are an expression of confidence in Duba’s future rather than confirmation of a national team selection.

For now, the focus remains on the striker continuing to work hard, develop his game and prove that his impressive performance can be the beginning of a consistent run of form.
