“Even the Senior Players at Chiefs These Days Are Not Leaders” – Thabiso Malatsi

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Thabiso Malatsi has voiced his dissatisfaction with the current state of the club, attributing the team's difficulties to the players and questioning the leadership within the squad.

Malatsi feels that Amakhosi has not made the anticipated advancements expected of such a prominent club. He points out that while some fans have placed blame on management, it is essential for the players to take responsibility for their performances.

In an interview with the media, he openly expressed his disappointment with the team’s recent displays, asserting that the club seems to be regressing rather than enhancing its ability to compete for major titles and regain supporter confidence.

"These players are letting us down. There’s no development; we’re going backwards. I hear complaints about management, but they’re not the ones on the field—it's the players," Malatsi stated.

His remarks represent the rising frustration within the fan base, who have high expectations for better results and consistent performances from the players. As one of South Africa's top football clubs, Kaizer Chiefs always face significant pressure when they play.

Malatsi further questioned the dedication and skill of the current players, believing they have fallen short of satisfying loyal supporters, who remain steadfast even amid the team’s challenges.

"These players aren’t taking things seriously. They need to be released because they're performing poorly and upsetting the fans. Back in our day, supporters were always happy," he added.

He also explored the idea of hiring a local coach to improve the club's situation, mentioning names like Pitso Mosimane and Benni McCarthy, but suggested that a South African coach familiar with local football might be a better option for Kaizer Chiefs.

"The situation is dire. With Pitso off the market and Benni too, Chiefs should really consider a local coach to turn things around," Malatsi said.

His concerns are not limited to coaching matters; he emphasizes that the current squad lacks the experienced leaders capable of stepping up during challenging times and guiding their teammates when results aren't favorable.

"Even the senior players at Chiefs these days lack true leadership," he concluded.

Malatsi's comments contribute to the ongoing discussion about what Kaizer Chiefs must do to reclaim their former success. While there are varying opinions on whether the main issue lies with the players, coaching staff, or management, his statements underscore the necessity for improvement throughout the club. For Amakhosi supporters, the key focus remains on witnessing a team that consistently delivers strong performances, earns positive results, and competes effectively for trophies.
