Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi is reportedly in negotiations with Moroccan giants Wydad AC over a possible return to club management, but his salary expectations have emerged as a major talking point in the discussions.
According to a report published by Morocco World News on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Nabi has requested a monthly salary of approximately $60,000, equivalent to around R1 million. The reported demand has created a financial challenge for Wydad as the club considers appointing a new head coach.
Wydad are reportedly looking at Nabi as a potential replacement for Portuguese coach Paulo Sérgio as they seek to strengthen their technical leadership and improve the team's performances. The Moroccan club is understood to be considering its financial commitments before making a final decision on the appointment.
Reports indicate that Nabi's salary request has prompted discussions within the club's negotiating team. Wydad must weigh the coach's expectations against its budget for the technical staff and other financial obligations.
The two parties have reportedly discussed the terms of a possible agreement, but a final deal has not been officially announced. Although the financial differences have complicated the negotiations, reports suggest that discussions could still lead to a compromise.
Nabi is an experienced coach who has worked with several clubs across Africa and the Middle East. His previous experience includes a spell at South African giants Kaizer Chiefs, where he attracted attention for his coaching methods and efforts to improve the team's performances.
His time in South Africa also helped raise his profile among football supporters, particularly those who followed his work at Naturena. His experience in different African leagues could make him an attractive candidate for Wydad as the club considers its options.
However, financial negotiations remain an important part of any potential appointment. Wydad must reach an agreement with Nabi on his salary and other contractual conditions before the Tunisian tactician can officially take charge of the team.
For now, the reported negotiations remain unresolved, and neither a final agreement nor Nabi's appointment has been officially confirmed.
The coming days could provide further clarity on whether Wydad are prepared to meet the coach's financial expectations or whether both parties will need to adjust their demands to reach an agreement.
