Former Sundowns coach Reportedly Set to Leave Tanzanian side Young Africans SC

Former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi is said to be in a precarious situation at Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC, mere months after he took over the club.

The speculation over the South African coach's job started after Young Africans drew a goalless match with TRA United. The outcome reportedly has led to speculation on Mngqithi's future, but no official word from either the club or coach.

Mngqithi came in with Young Africans after a stint of a number of years at Mamelodi Sundowns in key technical posts, where he played a crucial role in the Pretoria club's success in the domestic competitions as well as on the African continent.

The Tanzanian side's choice of him for the post led to their appointment because he had experience in South African football andh aving built competitive teams. Tanzania's leading local club Young Africans has its sights set on holding on to their home supremacy and also performing well on the continent.

But at a club of Young Africans' size, there is a high level of expectation for the coaching staff, especially if they don't achieve what the fans want.

This goalless draw against the rivals, TRA United, has sparked speculation about Mngqithi's fate. However, one result cannot be used to determine that a coach is about to be sacked and the information available in the report is not official confirmation of a club management decision.

In the process, the departure would mark the end of Mngqithi's tenure in Tanzanian football as well as an early end to a tight ship at Young Africans, where the club will have to find its next man in the technical job.

Such a move would certainly raise a question mark on Mngqithi's next step following his departure from SA to take on the challenge overseas. But his stint with Mamelodi Sundowns is an important part of his coaching experience.

The situation is now being closely monitored by supporters in Tanzania and South Africa for an official statement. Although the coach is rumored to be leaving, the reports should be taken as speculation until Young Africans SC or Mngqithi confirms it.
