Orlando Pirates are reportedly considering Mxolisi Mngomezulu for the position of assistant coach following Mandla Ncikazi’s departure from the club.

Mngomezulu has been part of head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s technical team, working behind the scenes as a performance analyst and talent scout. His experience within the club has reportedly placed him among the potential candidates for a more prominent role in the Buccaneers’ coaching setup.

The coach also holds a CAF A coaching licence, a qualification that could strengthen his credentials as he looks to take on greater responsibilities in professional football.

If the reported appointment goes ahead, Pirates could benefit from promoting someone who is already familiar with the club’s players, coaching staff and technical structures. Such a move could also help maintain continuity as the team prepares for its domestic commitments and CAF Champions League campaign.

Pirates face expectations to compete for major honours across multiple competitions, making the composition of their technical team an important consideration for the season ahead.

However, the reported link between Mngomezulu and the assistant coach position has not been officially confirmed by Orlando Pirates. Supporters will have to wait for an announcement from the club to learn who will fill the role following Ncikazi’s departure.
