Miguel Explains Why Chiefs May Not Feel Alone In Zambia

Defending Kaizer Chiefs player Inácio Miguel is optimistic about the support the Amakhosi traveling team will receive in Zambia for their first-leg match against Red Arrows FC in the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round.

Miguel is hoping that the club's supporters will make it feel like home even though it's in a different country, as the Chiefs flew into Zambia on Thursday for the match.

According to the defender, his belief that the Chiefs have supporters outside of their home country was further solidified when he saw Chiefs fans during training.

The Kaizer Chiefs had a massive fan base at training yesterday, and I couldn't help but notice. When we still have fans in Zambia, it's hard to feel like we're playing away from home, Miguel admitted.

Continuing, he mentioned that the club frequently interacts with fans from various parts of Africa and expresses their desire to witness that level of support at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

He went on to say that our fans will fill the stadium, just as they do in the majority of the African countries they visit.

Miguel is making these comments as the Chiefs prepare to begin their continental campaign; they were given a bye in the first preliminary round. As one of the top 12 seeds based on the Confederation of African Football's five-year ranking points, this club was able to get into the tournament at this stage.

After a disappointing domestic campaign, Amakhosi can finally shift their attention to continental football with this match. While they have only lost once in their last six matches in the Betway Premiership, their record includes five draws, so they still have some catching up to do in the race for a position near the league top.

During that time, they faced Lamontville Golden Arrows in the MTN8 quarterfinal, which was their only loss, according to the report.

Miguel takes heart from the fact that the Zambian fans are going all out in support of his team as they prepare for a challenging away match. The Chiefs could get a boost from their home crowd, but they'll still need to perform at a high level to defeat the Red Arrows, who will be eager to use home field advantage to their advantage.

In this two-game tie, both teams will be aiming to build momentum for the second game by winning the first. Chiefs would be greatly appreciated if their performance in Zambia matches the support Miguel is hoping for and prepares them well for the next leg of their continental campaign.
