Orlando Pirates defender Lebone Seema has earned praise from football supporters following an impressive performance in the Buccaneers' 1-0 victory over Sekhukhune United in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

The young defender played a crucial role as Pirates secured their place in the semi-finals, with Mpho Padime scoring the only goal of the encounter. While Padime received attention for finding the back of the net, Seema's contribution at the other end of the pitch was equally important in helping the team protect its narrow lead.

Seema demonstrated confidence, composure and defensive discipline throughout the match, making it difficult for Sekhukhune's attackers to find a way through the Pirates defence.

His statistics further highlighted the quality of his performance. The defender completed 72 of his 74 passes, recording an impressive 97 per cent passing accuracy. This demonstrated his ability to remain calm under pressure and contribute to the team's build-up play.

He also won all four of his recorded duels, completed both tackles and secured both aerial challenges. In addition, he registered 11 progressive carries and completed six out of seven progressive passes, showing his willingness to support attacks whenever an opportunity presented itself.

Seema finished the match with 81 touches, four clearances and four ball recoveries. Notably, no opponent managed to dribble past him during the encounter, and he completed the game without committing a foul.

His impressive statistics earned him a match rating of 7.6 out of 10, reflecting the important role he played in Pirates' quarter-final success.

The performance will undoubtedly be encouraging for head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou as he continues working to strengthen the team's defensive department. Having dependable defenders who can contribute both defensively and during build-up play is important for a side competing for multiple trophies.

With Orlando Pirates now through to the Carling Knockout Cup semi-finals, Seema will be hoping to maintain his form and continue earning opportunities in the team.

Although goalscorers often receive most of the attention after narrow victories, Seema's display showed why defensive contributions deserve recognition. His performance against Sekhukhune United demonstrated that keeping opponents away from goal can be just as valuable as scoring at the other end.
