Kaizer Chiefs Announce Strong Starting Line-Up Ahead of Red Arrows CAF Confederation Cup Encounter
Kaizer Chiefs have officially unveiled their starting XI for the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round first-leg showdown against Zambia's Red Arrows at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Soweto-based club will be aiming to secure a favourable result on foreign soil as they begin another important chapter in their continental campaign. Amakhosi are determined to move closer to the group stages, but they face a challenging assignment against a Red Arrows team hoping to make home advantage count.
Chief coach Fernando Da Cruz has named Renaldo Leaner as his first-choice goalkeeper for the encounter. The defensive department features Thabiso Monyane, Inacio Miguel, Thabo Moloisane and Bradley Cross, with Miguel entrusted with the captain's armband.
The defensive combination will be expected to provide stability and prevent the Zambian opponents from creating dangerous scoring opportunities.
In the middle of the park, Paseka Mako, Reeve Frosler and Sibongiseni Mthethwa have been included in the starting team. Their responsibilities will involve protecting the defence, controlling possession and creating opportunities for the attacking players.
Meanwhile, Mduduzi Shabalala and promising youngster Mfundo Vilakazi have been selected to operate alongside Luke Baartman in attack. The trio will be tasked with breaking down the Red Arrows defence and helping Chiefs secure an important away result.
