Titus Aids Maghreb Fes - 2-1 Win Despite Draw (But Mas Concede Late)

Maghreb Fes has secured its place in the CAF Champions League group stages following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over ASEC Mimosas on Sunday evening, a result that effectively sealed their advancement after a 3-2 aggregate scoreline.

The Moroccan side, known as Mas Fes, demonstrated a significant shift in form since their earlier 1-1 draw against the Ivorian outfit, a match that had left many questioning their chances.

Devin Titus, the South African attacker who recently joined the club, played a pivotal role in this crucial success.

The outcome of the second leg was largely defined by Titus’s influence.

He provided the assist for Noureddine Oussama’s opening goal, a moment that immediately signaled a change in momentum for Mas Fes.

However, the team’s celebration was short-lived as ASEC Mimosas responded with a dramatic equaliser in the 93rd minute, courtesy of Bamba Souhalio.

It was a frustrating end for the Moroccan champions, but their performance in the first leg, coupled with this decisive victory, ultimately proved sufficient.

It is clear that Titus’s arrival has injected a new level of dynamism into Maghreb Fes’s attack.

His six goal contributions in nine matches since joining the Botola Pro league speak volumes about his immediate impact.

While Tshegofatso Mabasa, another South African player, was relegated to the bench, his presence on the squad highlights the club's ambition and willingness to explore different tactical approaches.

Looking at Maghreb Fes’s domestic form, the team currently sits in sixth position within the Botola Pro, accumulating seven points after four games.

This places them five points behind the league leaders, KACM, a gap that could prove difficult to close given KACM’s slightly better competitive record.

Nevertheless, the Champions League qualification represents a significant achievement for the club and a welcome boost for their supporters.

It remains to be seen how Titus and the rest of the squad will perform in the group stages, but this victory undoubtedly sets the stage for an exciting period ahead.
