Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has expressed his willingness to support Monnapule Saleng as the talented winger continues working towards making his competitive debut for the club.

Saleng, who previously played for Orlando Pirates, has attracted considerable attention following his situation at Sundowns. The attacker spent a period training alone before rejoining the squad, raising questions among supporters about his future at Chloorkop and when he would finally get an opportunity to showcase his abilities on the pitch.

However, Cardoso has offered encouragement, indicating that he remains confident Saleng will eventually feature for the Tshwane giants.

“He will appear, I'm pretty sure he will appear,” Cardoso previously said when discussing the winger's prospects of playing for the club.

The Portuguese tactician has emphasised the importance of maintaining a positive relationship with his players, highlighting trust and mutual understanding as essential elements in building a successful team.

Cardoso's willingness to support Saleng could provide the winger with renewed motivation as he attempts to settle into the squad and convince the technical team that he deserves an opportunity.

Nevertheless, the former Pirates star will need to demonstrate his readiness through hard work in training, regain his competitive rhythm and prove that he can meet the coach's expectations.

Sundowns boast several attacking options, meaning competition for places remains intense. Saleng will therefore need to make the most of any opportunity that comes his way if he hopes to establish himself in Cardoso's plans.

His pace, creativity and attacking ability could offer Sundowns another valuable option as they compete for domestic honours and continental success in the CAF Champions League.

Meanwhile, Sundowns supporters will be eager to see how the situation develops, particularly after the attention surrounding Saleng's period away from the main group.

Although Cardoso has expressed confidence in the winger's eventual involvement, he has not announced a specific date for his first appearance.

For now, Saleng's priority will be to regain full match readiness, build trust with the coaching staff and demonstrate his value as Sundowns continue their campaign.
