Miguel Cardoso has received recognition for his contribution to Mamelodi Sundowns, with his work credited as a major factor behind the club’s recent achievements on the international stage.

The Sundowns coach has been praised for the improvements he has brought to the South African club since taking charge. His influence has helped the team remain competitive in major competitions while strengthening its reputation as one of Africa’s leading football sides.

Under Cardoso’s guidance, Sundowns have continued to pursue success both domestically and internationally. Their performances have attracted attention, particularly following their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup and their achievements in continental football.

A statement praising the Portuguese coach highlighted the progress made by the club during his tenure and linked his impact to their ability to compete against strong opponents.

"So, to be honest, Miguel has improved Sundowns and that is why they have been able to compete at the Club World Cup, win the Champions League, and now play in the FIFA tournament in December."

The remarks reflect the belief that Cardoso has played an important role in improving the team’s overall performance and preparing the players for demanding competitions.

Sundowns have established themselves as a dominant force in South African football, regularly competing for major domestic honours. Their ambitions have also extended beyond the country, with the club seeking to maintain its standing among Africa’s elite teams.

Cardoso’s leadership has therefore become an important part of discussions surrounding the club’s recent progress. His tactical decisions, management approach and ability to guide the squad through challenging fixtures have contributed to the attention he is receiving.

The praise also comes as Sundowns look towards further opportunities to demonstrate their quality on the international stage. Competing in global tournaments offers the club a chance to measure itself against teams from different footballing backgrounds and gain valuable experience.

For the coach, maintaining this level of performance will be essential as expectations continue to rise. Sundowns supporters will hope that the progress associated with his leadership translates into more trophies and consistent displays in upcoming competitions.

With important challenges ahead, Cardoso will be expected to build on the foundation already established and help Sundowns remain competitive in South Africa, Africa and beyond.
