South African coach Rulani Mokwena has continued his impressive start at Pyramids FC after guiding the Egyptian giants to a 2-0 victory over El Dakhleya in the Egypt Cup on Saturday night.
The victory extended Pyramids’ winning streak to 15 consecutive matches in all competitions, further highlighting the remarkable impact Mokwena has made since taking charge of the club.
Pyramids wasted little time asserting their authority in the Round of 32 encounter, with Youssef Obama opening the scoring in the eighth minute to give the defending champions an early advantage.
The Egyptian side continued to control proceedings and eventually secured the result when Mostafa Fathy found the back of the net in the 75th minute, sealing a comfortable 2-0 triumph and confirming their progress to the last 16.
The latest success adds to an outstanding run that has seen Mokwena establish Pyramids as one of the most formidable sides in Egyptian football.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach has also enjoyed individual recognition for his work, having been named Egyptian Premier League Coach of the Month for September and October.
Pyramids have been equally impressive in the League Cup, where they sit top of Group B after winning their opening two matches to collect six points.
Mokwena and his players will now turn their attention to a major league assignment against Egyptian heavyweights Al Ahly on November 23. Pyramids currently hold a four-point advantage over their rivals and could strengthen their position with a positive result.
