Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Cavin Johnson has warned the Soweto giants to prepare for a difficult encounter against Red Arrows FC as they get ready for the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kaizer Chiefs are preparing for the continental challenge, but Johnson believes the South African side should not underestimate their opponents, who will be eager to prove themselves against one of the country’s biggest football clubs.

The upcoming fixture presents an important opportunity for Amakhosi to make progress in the competition and demonstrate their ability to compete against teams from other African countries.

However, Johnson’s warning highlights the challenges that can come with playing unfamiliar opponents in continental football. Teams competing in these fixtures often approach them with determination, especially when facing a more widely recognised club.

Red Arrows will have their own ambitions heading into the encounter and will be determined to make the most of their opportunity against the Soweto giants. The Zambian side will be looking to produce a strong performance and give themselves a chance of progressing to the next stage of the competition.

For Kaizer Chiefs, the challenge will be to approach the tie with the right mentality, maintain concentration and avoid giving their opponents opportunities to take control of the match.

Amakhosi will also need to make effective use of their attacking opportunities while remaining organised defensively. In continental competitions, small mistakes can have a significant impact on the outcome of a tie, making discipline and consistency particularly important.

Johnson’s comments serve as a reminder that Kaizer Chiefs’ reputation alone will not guarantee success against Red Arrows. The South African club will need to demonstrate their quality on the pitch if they hope to advance in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The fixture is another opportunity for Chiefs to strengthen their continental ambitions and build confidence as they seek to make progress in African football.

With Red Arrows expected to approach the match with determination, the encounter could prove to be a demanding test for Amakhosi.
