Arthur Zwane has finally spoken about reports linking him to Pitso Mosimane’s technical team at Bafana Bafana. The AmaZulu coach says he is not in a hurry to leave Usuthu.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 2026 Carling Knockout last-16 draw, Zwane made it clear that loyalty comes first. He spent 24 years at Kaizer Chiefs and felt like part of the furniture there. Leaving was never easy.
“When I got a call from the President, the first thing I said was, ‘President, I’m willing to join, but please contact the Chairman, and if the Chairman agrees, I’m on board,’” Zwane explained. Sandile Zungu of AmaZulu contacted Kaizer Motaung, and the move was approved.
The project at Usuthu sold him. Zwane said he felt he was the right coach for what the club wanted to achieve, together with coach Kanu at the time. They believed they could make it big.
Things started slowly. The team was shaking at first, but they grew in stature. Zwane and his players understood the environment better and developed together. The president gave them freedom to grow.
Today, Zwane says the support he receives is second to none. It comes from the fans, the management, the board and the CEO. That backing makes any decision to leave difficult.
“It’s not going to be an easy decision for me to just say tomorrow I want to move,” he said. “Only time will tell, but trust me, I’m enjoying myself. I’m growing.”
He added the line that will please AmaZulu supporters: “This is a challenge I needed as a coach.”
Earlier reports suggested AmaZulu had already started looking for a replacement in case Zwane accepted a national team role. Orlando Pirates assistant Mandla Ncikazi was mentioned as a possible target. Zwane has not ruled out a move completely, but he has not said yes either.
For now, his focus remains on finishing what he started at Usuthu. AmaZulu sit third in the Betway Premiership after a strong start, with 19 points from eight matches. Zwane wants the side to keep growing and compete for continental football.
The coach is happy where he is. He is growing with the players and feels the club’s full support. Any future decision will not be taken lightly.
