FC Copenhagen Boss Exposes Maseko’s Shocking Physical Crisis

Copenhagen Coach Delivers Injury Update On Thapelo Maseko After Hamstring Setback

South African winger Thapelo Maseko has suffered an injury setback at FC Copenhagen, with head coach Bo Svensson providing an important update on the youngster's condition after his recent absence from the team.

The 22-year-old attacking player picked up a hamstring injury during Copenhagen's Danish Superliga encounter against AGF, raising concerns about his availability for the club's upcoming fixtures.

According to Danish publication Tipsbladet, Svensson confirmed the nature of Maseko's injury while explaining how the problem developed during the match against AGF.

"He has a hamstring injury. It happened against AGF, where he held onto his hamstring for ten minutes," Svensson confirmed.

The injury forced Maseko out of action, interrupting his efforts to establish himself at the Danish club following his move from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Maseko joined FC Copenhagen in August 2026 on a four-year contract after leaving Sundowns, bringing his pace, attacking ability and experience in South African football to the Danish side.

His arrival was viewed as an exciting opportunity to develop his career in European football, particularly with the opportunity to compete at a higher level and test himself against different opposition.

However, the hamstring setback has temporarily interrupted his progress, with Copenhagen having to manage its attacking options without the South African winger.

The situation is also a concern for the player's supporters, who will be eager to see him return to action and demonstrate the qualities that convinced Copenhagen to secure his services.

Maseko's fitness will also attract attention from Bafana Bafana supporters, particularly as the national team continues preparing for its upcoming international commitments.

The former Sundowns attacker has previously represented South Africa and remains one of the young players whose development will be closely followed.

For now, his immediate priority will be recovering fully from the hamstring problem and returning to training without complications. Hamstring injuries require careful management, especially for attacking players who depend heavily on acceleration, speed and quick changes of direction.

Although his exact return date remains uncertain, Copenhagen will hope to have him available again once he has completed his recovery.

Maseko will now be determined to overcome this setback, regain his fitness and continue his European journey with FC Copenhagen.
