Orlando Pirates defender Nkosinathi Sibisi and former Kaizer Chiefs youngster Aden McCarthy have both been left out of Pitso Mosimane’s final 27-man Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Kenya.
Both defenders were initially included in the preliminary squad, giving them an opportunity to be considered for national team selection. However, following the final assessment and selection process, neither player managed to secure a place in the 27-man squad.
Their omission means they will not be part of the group expected to represent South Africa in the important qualifying fixtures against Kenya as Bafana Bafana continue their campaign towards securing a place at the 2027 AFCON tournament.
Sibisi, who represents Orlando Pirates, and McCarthy, a former Kaizer Chiefs youngster, will now have to wait for another opportunity to earn a call-up to the national team.
Their exclusion is likely to generate debate among South African football supporters, particularly those who believe the two defenders deserved a place in the final selection.
Do you think Pitso Mosimane made the right decision by leaving Nkosinathi Sibisi and Aden McCarthy out of the final squad?
