Kaizer Chiefs supporters have renewed their calls for the club to sign former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Thembinkosi Lorch following reports that his future at Libyan side Al-Ittihad is uncertain.

The 32-year-old attacking midfielder has reportedly fallen out of favour with Al-Ittihad head coach Faouzi Benzarti, sparking speculation about a possible return to South African football.

News of his situation has excited sections of the Chiefs supporters, who believe Lorch could bring the creativity and attacking quality the Soweto giants need to strengthen their squad.

Lorch remains one of the most recognised players in South African football, having built a reputation for his impressive technical skills, creativity, close control and ability to deliver decisive performances in important matches.

His versatility is another major attraction, as he can operate behind the striker or in wider attacking positions, giving coaches different tactical options.

Chiefs have been working towards assembling a stronger squad capable of challenging for major trophies, and some supporters believe Lorch's experience could make a significant difference.

However, signing the former Pirates and Sundowns star would not necessarily be straightforward. Lorch is reportedly contracted to Al-Ittihad until June 2027, meaning Chiefs would have to negotiate a possible transfer with the Libyan club.

His salary expectations and potential transfer fee could also influence any move.

Importantly, Kaizer Chiefs have not confirmed negotiations or officially expressed interest in signing him.

For now, the calls for his arrival are coming from supporters rather than any confirmed transfer development. Nevertheless, Lorch's uncertain situation in Libya makes him a player to watch in upcoming transfer windows.
