Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has explained why his behaviour on the touchline differs from that of his predecessor, Jose Riveiro, following the Buccaneers' 1-0 victory over Sekhukhune United on Saturday.

Ouaddou has developed a reputation for being highly expressive during matches, regularly giving instructions, reacting to incidents and showing his emotions from the technical area.

His approach has attracted attention among Pirates supporters, particularly when compared with Riveiro, who was generally known for maintaining a calmer presence on the sidelines.

The Moroccan coach has now addressed the difference, making it clear that he has his own personality and approach to managing matches. His explanation suggests that his animated behaviour is part of how he communicates with his players and responds to events during games.

The victory over Sekhukhune United provided another positive result for Pirates as they continue their domestic campaign. The Buccaneers had to work hard to secure the three points against a determined opponent, with the narrow scoreline reflecting the competitive nature of the encounter.

For Ouaddou, the responsibility goes beyond preparing the team tactically. He must also communicate effectively with players throughout matches, especially when the team faces difficult moments or needs to protect an advantage.

His touchline conduct has therefore become part of the wider conversation surrounding his early spell at the club.

Riveiro enjoyed a successful period at Pirates before leaving the position, but Ouaddou is now building his own identity with the Soweto giants.

The coach will be hoping that his methods continue producing positive results as Pirates pursue their ambitions in domestic competitions.
