Former Orlando Pirates defender Justice Chabalala is undergoing assessment at Upington City FC as the club looks to strengthen its defence and improve its chances of securing promotion.

The promotion hopefuls are considering the experienced defender as they seek solutions to their defensive problems after conceding 10 goals so far this season.

Chabalala’s assessment comes as Upington City look to improve their defensive organisation and become more competitive in their push for promotion. The club will be keen to identify players who can bring stability and experience to the backline.

The former Pirates defender could offer valuable experience if he impresses the technical team during the assessment period. Having previously played for one of South Africa’s prominent football clubs, Chabalala has experience of competing in a demanding professional environment.

However, his potential move to Upington City will depend on the outcome of the assessment and whether the club believes he can meet its current needs.

Conceding 10 goals has presented a challenge for the team, particularly as it pursues its ambition of earning promotion. Improving defensive performances could be important in helping the club maintain consistency throughout the campaign.

For Upington City, bringing in a defender with experience could provide another option as the technical team evaluates ways to address the issue. The club will need to balance defensive solidity with its overall approach as it competes for a place in a higher division.

Chabalala, meanwhile, will have an opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities and convince the club that he can contribute to its objectives. His performances during the assessment will be crucial in determining whether the interest leads to a formal move.

No agreement has been confirmed, and the assessment does not necessarily mean the defender will join the club.

With promotion remaining the target, Upington City will be hoping to find the right defensive reinforcement to help improve its results as the season continues.
