Ker has stepped down from the board after a highly successful six-year long association with the club.
A comedy actor and writer, Ker introduced Rob Mac to the appeal of British football after persuading him to watch the sports documentary 'Sunderland 'Til I Die'.
'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' actor Mac was hooked and when he decided to buy a football club, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds came on board.
Ker was tasked with finding a suitable club and the rest is history as the Hollywood A-listers decided to purchase Wrexham, with the takeover completed in February 2021, and it's been money well spent with the north Wales outfit becoming a global sensation.
There has been success on the pitch as well with Wrexham, under Phil Parkinson, securing a record-breaking three successive promotions, climbing from the National League to the Championship at a rapid rate.
As he bids farewell after six years at The Racecourse, Ker says he is "glad" Wrexham was the club chosen by Mac and Reynolds out of several lower-league teams, insisting its passionate supporters and untapped potential laid the foundations for an extraordinary success story.
On his parting message to Reds fans, he thanked then for the warmth they showed him throughout his time at the club.
"It is an enormous thank you because I have been met with nothing but kindness, generosity and enthusiasm," said Ker.
"It can sound a bit pat but all we did was to help activate what was already there.
"We could see from the outside back in 2020 that it was a club with massive potential with a huge and loyal fanbase.
"Sometimes you just need to sort of give people a nudge and that's what we did.
"Obviously success has many parents but I am very glad that I sent Rob that text saying 'you should watch this documentary' because it has led to lots of wonderful things.
"I am glad we chose Wrexham as well.
"I really don't think it could have worked quite as well as it has done anywhere else."
