Gary Neville has become well-known for his post-footballing career antics, which have seen him take the plunge into the world of business.
The Manchester United legend has really put his fame to use, even becoming a guest dragon on the entrepreneurial BBC show Dragon’s Den.
Neville recently announced his departure from Buzz 16, a sports production company that he co-founded alongside former Sky Sports producers Scott Melvin and Diana Law.
The company, which forms part of Neville’s Relentless Group that includes hospitality and property ventures in Manchester, was put behind by the former England right-back.
It has allowed him to put more time into The Overlap – a fast-growing football media project that has grown into one of England’s most consumed podcasts since its 2021 launch.
One piece of business The Overlap have pushed is the acquisition of content creator Mark Goldbridge’s YouTube assets, That’s Football and The United Stand.
In recent weeks, The Overlap Daily was announced, a show that replaced That’s Football’s socials, from on YouTube to X.
Various pundits and ex-footballers have been named as part of the lineup.
Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel is one of those, announcing on Instagram, “Delighted to be joining the Overlap Daily! A great team and plenty of football to talk about. I’m sure a few of us will see things differently…”
Peter Schmeichel has done his fair share of media work since retiring from football in 2003.
During the summer, the Dane joined FOX Sports for their FIFA World Cup coverage, as a pundit.
Schmeichel also works often for Viaplay, but is now entering The Overlap’s coverage as a regular guest on the new show.
It’s an exciting appointment, and one that may intrigue Manchester United fans as they consume their football content.
The 62-year-old hinted at disagreements in his Instagram announcement, hinting at some potentially edgy opinions that could be coming everybody’s way.
