Bursaspor president Enes Çelik has revealed that the club would only consider selling Kelechi Iheanacho if they receive an exceptional offer.
The Nigeria international has enjoyed an impressive start to life at Bursaspor, having joined the Turkish club on a free transfer this summer.
Iheanacho has made an immediate impact, scoring 16 goals and providing three assists in just 12 league appearances for the Green Crocodiles.
His impressive performances have reportedly attracted interest from Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahçe, who are said to be considering a move for the striker in January.
Çelik, however, insists Bursaspor have no intention of letting the 30-year-old leave easily, although the club’s board would be willing to consider an offer that meets their expectations.
“If a poll were conducted, I’m sure 99% of people would vote for him not to be sold. I understand that, but we cannot look at things purely from an emotional perspective. We also have to consider the situation rationally,” Celik told Gol TV.
“Iheanacho is a player who can score goals even when there seems to be no real goalscoring opportunity. I am the person who wants him to stay at the club more than anyone.
“However, there could be some truly extraordinary offers on the table. If that happens, we will consider them as a board. Ultimately, we set out to make decisions that are in the best interests of the club.
“At that point, it would have to be a good offer — in fact, an offer far beyond what would normally be considered good.
“He is not a player we would easily allow to leave. He also wants to bring a significant amount of money into the club. He is genuinely a good character.
“It wouldn’t be right to mention a specific figure, but I can assure you that if an offer comes in that satisfies everyone, it will be an amount that makes us say, ‘Yes, he can be sold for that.’”
