Barcelona defender Xavi Espart could attract several Premier League transfer offers in 2027, with Liverpool and Arsenal reported to be interested in the 19-year-old.
The La Masia graduate has emerged into Hansi Flick’s first-team plans after being given opportunities at the beginning of the 2026/17 campaign. Flick has used Espart as cover on both full-back positions, giving him a role in the competition for places alongside Joao Cancelo and Jules Kounde.
His progress has been rewarded with a contract extension that will keep him at Barcelona until 2030. The new agreement has also increased the teenager’s release clause to €100M.
That valuation could make a potential move difficult, but interest from England may continue if Espart falls down the pecking order at Barcelona. Liverpool and Arsenal are both said to be monitoring the situation as the defender seeks to establish himself in Flick’s squad.
Liverpool’s interest may also depend on the club’s decision over another Barcelona player, Ronald Araujo. The Uruguay international has impressed at right-back after joining Liverpool on a season-long loan before the new season.
If Liverpool choose not to complete a permanent deal for Araujo, Espart could remain an alternative target. Araujo’s performances have given the club another decision to make, with Andoni Iraola able to retain him on Merseyside for around €55M.
For now, Espart remains tied to the defending Spanish champions through 2030, with Barcelona having strengthened their position by setting his release clause at €100M.
