Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League with a convincing 3-0 victory over Heart of Lions in their match-week 10 encounter at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Phobians made a fast start, taking the lead just two minutes from kick-off through left-back Ransford Mensah, who struck from close range.
John Antwi doubled Hearts’ advantage in the 25th minute, ending his long wait for a goal.
The experienced forward then struck again three minutes into the second half to complete his brace and put the result beyond doubt.
The Giant Killers came close to reducing the deficit shortly before the break when Stephen Afoakwah’s effort crashed against the crossbar on the stroke of half-time, but the visitors were unable to find a way past the Hearts defence.
The victory takes Hearts of Oak back to second place on the league table with 20 points, keeping them firmly in the title race and will next travel to Samreboi to face FC Samartex.
Heart of Lions, meanwhile, have again suffered a setback and will look to respond when they host Dreams FC in their next league fixture at Kpando.
