Michael Baidoo marks comeback with goal as Plymouth Argyle thrash Alvechurch

Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo celebrated his return to action with a goal as Plymouth Argyle cruised to a 4-0 victory over Alvechurch FC in the Emirates FA Cup first round.

Argyle dominated possession in the opening half but struggled to break down their opponents, with both sides heading into the interval without a goal.

The hosts eventually found the breakthrough five minutes after the restart when Will Evans capitalised on a defensive mistake before firing a low effort into the bottom corner.

Evans was credited with his second goal in the 69th minute after a Ronan Curtis cross took a heavy deflection and found its way into the net.

Baidoo, who came on in the 61st minute, made an immediate impact by scoring Argyle’s third goal in the 78th minute. The midfielder connected with a low cross from Jared Rendle and powered his finish into the net to mark his first goal for the club.

Curtis completed the emphatic victory two minutes later, lifting the ball over the goalkeeper after being played through by Harvey White.

The result sends Plymouth into the second round of the FA Cup, while Baidoo marked his return from injury with a memorable contribution.
