According to a report by footballTransfers on Friday, October 16, 2026, Chelsea are monitoring Juventus winger Francisco Conceição following his angry reaction to being substituted during Thursday’s 2-1 Europa League victory over Celta.
The incident has raised questions about the Portuguese international’s situation at Juventus, although both the player and manager Luciano Spalletti have played down suggestions of a serious disagreement.
With the match level in the 64th minute, Spalletti decided to withdraw Conceição. The 23-year-old appeared frustrated, struck the substitutes’ bench and headed towards the dressing room.
His reaction attracted attention, particularly as he has yet to play a full 90 minutes this season.
However, Conceição dismissed reports that he had argued with members of the coaching staff. He explained that he left the pitch, changed his shirt and returned, insisting that attention should remain on Juventus’ performance and the result rather than his reaction.
Spalletti also played down the situation, suggesting that the winger was frustrated with his own performance rather than angry with the coaching staff. The manager noted that Conceição had also been substituted at half-time during Juventus’ previous match against Cagliari. He added that the player would need to explain his behaviour if the reports from the team were accurate.
Chelsea have previously considered the Portugal international as a potential option to strengthen their wing positions.
Conceição joined Juventus from Porto for €32 million and has become an important member of the squad. His versatility, which allows him to operate as a right winger or in a central attacking role, could appeal to Chelsea. His representation by Jorge Mendes, who has strong connections with the London club, could also keep communication between the parties open.
His estimated transfer value stands at around €34.4 million, with a reported range of €30.9 million to €37.8 million.
However, there is currently no indication that Juventus are willing to sell the winger. Chelsea are expected to continue monitoring his situation rather than make an immediate move.
