According to a report by FootballTransfers on Friday, October 30, 2026, Manchester United have received encouragement in their pursuit of Aston Villa striker Nicolas Jackson, with former Senegal defender Mohamed Sarr advising the forward to remain at Villa Park for another two or three seasons before considering a move to a European giant.
Jackson joined Unai Emery’s side from Chelsea for €55.5 million in August and has made an impressive start to life at the club.
The Senegal international has scored seven goals in 11 appearances, quickly establishing himself as an important part of Villa’s attacking setup alongside fellow summer arrivals Johan Manzambi and Ibrahim Mbaye.
His performances have also encouraged suggestions that he could become an upgrade on Ollie Watkins, who left the club for Al Hilal during the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Africa Foot, Sarr explained that Jackson appears to be benefiting from the support and playing style of his new teammates.
“At Aston Villa, he seems to be with teammates who are constantly looking for him. That could explain his effectiveness,” he said.
The former defender believes the 25-year-old should use his time at Villa to develop further before pursuing another major transfer.
“If tomorrow there's another transfer from Aston Villa to another top club, he'll be better prepared. He needs to spend two or three seasons at Aston Villa before another challenge,” Sarr added.
Despite that advice, Jackson’s impressive form could attract attention from several European clubs, including Manchester United, who have previously admired his qualities.
United are expected to strengthen their attacking options, with Benjamin Sesko dealing with injury problems and Joshua Zirkzee yet to establish himself as a dependable first choice striker.
Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo are also viewed as players better suited to other attacking positions rather than leading the line consistently.
Jackson’s ability to combine with teammates, stretch opposition defences and operate in wider attacking areas makes him an attractive option for the Old Trafford side.
FootballTransfers also reported that data analytics experts SciSports believe Jackson would immediately become Manchester United’s best player if he moved to Old Trafford.
However, Aston Villa are unlikely to welcome the departure of a striker who has made such a promising start. Whether United eventually formalise their interest could depend on Jackson’s continued performances and Villa’s willingness to negotiate.
