£42m Striker Scores Hat-trick After Report Claimed Chelsea Had Sent Scouts to Watch Him

According to a report by Football London on Monday, October 26, 2026, Chelsea’s reported interest in Club Brugge striker Nicolas Tresoldi has attracted attention after the £42 million-rated forward scored an impressive hat-trick, further strengthening his reputation as one of Europe’s promising attacking talents.

Reports last week indicated that Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso had sent scouts to watch the striker over the weekend. Tresoldi delivered an outstanding performance, scoring three goals in Club Brugge’s victory over Sint-Truiden.

Chelsea’s need for another centre-forward has become more apparent following their recent defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Alonso selected Morgan Rogers to lead the attack, but the decision failed to produce the desired result.

Danny Welbeck came on as a substitute, while Emmanuel Emegha remains sidelined with an injury. With Joao Pedro also unavailable, Chelsea’s limited attacking options became increasingly evident, particularly as former striker Nicolas Jackson continues to impress at Aston Villa.

According to TeamTalk, Chelsea representatives were present to monitor Tresoldi during Club Brugge’s 3-2 victory over Sint-Truiden. The 22-year-old German-Italian forward scored all three goals, taking his tally for the season to 12 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions.

Tresoldi has also demonstrated his scoring ability in European competition, having registered a hat-trick against Inter Milan in the Champions League. His performances suggest he could provide Chelsea with another reliable attacking option in the final third.

Since joining Club Brugge from Hannover in 2025, Tresoldi has reportedly scored 35 goals in 72 appearances. He found the net 23 times during his first season, establishing himself as an important figure in the Belgian club’s attack.

LiveScore reports that Club Brugge are now demanding approximately €50 million, equivalent to £42 million, for the striker. Their reported asking price has increased from €35 million, or around £29 million, earlier this summer.

Chelsea are not the only club interested in signing the forward. Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have also been linked with him, potentially increasing competition for his signature.

If Alonso remains unconvinced that Welbeck can consistently lead the attack and Emegha continues his recovery, Chelsea could be forced to strengthen their striking options. Tresoldi could provide additional depth and help bridge the quality gap between Pedro and the club’s other attacking alternatives.

Although adapting to the Premier League would present a significant challenge, Tresoldi’s performances in domestic football and the Champions League have strengthened his credentials. Chelsea must now decide whether to pursue the in-form striker as interest in his services continues to grow.
