According to a report by Barca Universal on Monday, November 2, 2026, Barcelona are reportedly exploring the possibility of including Alejandro Balde in a swap deal as they pursue Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso ahead of the January transfer window.
The Italian international has emerged as a potential addition to Hansi Flick's defensive options, with his ability to operate on both sides of the defence making him an attractive target for the Catalan club.
Barcelona are believed to be considering Balde's inclusion in negotiations to reduce the financial cost of signing Cambiaso. Strengthening the full-back positions is among the club's priorities, particularly as Flick looks to improve the team's defensive depth.
Balde's future at the Spotify Camp Nou has reportedly become uncertain after losing some prominence under the German manager. The 22 year old is also said to be assessing his options, with Roma previously linked with a potential loan move that could include an option to buy.
A swap arrangement could benefit both clubs. Barcelona would have an opportunity to secure Cambiaso without paying his full asking price, while Juventus would receive a younger left back who could provide an alternative in their defensive setup.
However, the two clubs are reportedly some distance apart in their valuation of the Juventus defender. Barcelona are said to be prepared to offer between €25 million and €30 million, while Juventus value the 26 year old at approximately €40 million.
Including Balde in the negotiations could help narrow that difference and make an agreement more realistic.
Cambiaso's versatility remains one of the strongest reasons behind Barcelona's interest. His ability to play as either a left back or right back would give Flick additional tactical options and provide cover across both defensive flanks.
Nevertheless, his fitness could become a concern. The defender recently spent several weeks recovering from an ankle injury, meaning Barcelona would likely want to assess his condition before committing to a major transfer.
Competition from the Premier League could further complicate the situation, with Arsenal and Manchester City reportedly monitoring his availability. Their interest could strengthen Juventus' negotiating position and make Barcelona's pursuit more challenging as January approaches.
